Rimli Roy, the Founder and Artistic Director of Surati for Performing Arts is the primary artistic decision-maker in the organization who is guided by the board members and advisory boards members and other artistic consultants involved with the organization. Rimli is an artist, dancer, choreographer, producer, director, actor, and visionary. She has trained in three different styles of classical Indian dance – Odissi, Bharatnatyam, and Manipuri under renowned masters from India. Since 1999, after moving to the United States, she has choreographed and performed in prestigious venues including the United Nations, The Kennedy Center and The Library of Congress (Washington D.C), The Lincoln Center (NYC), The World Financial Center Wintergarden, New York City Hall, The Indian Consulate NY, the University of the U.S Virgin Islands’ Reichhold Center, The University of the West Indies in Barbados, Rutgers University NJ, the Alaska Performing Arts Center AK and at the Las Vegas Convention Center (NV) and also for the Indian Ministry of Tourism and Textiles. Her work has been featured in The Vogue, NY Daily News, NBC News, The Star Ledger and The Jersey Journal to name a few.
